Project Description
Canyon Hills Community Church
Bothell, WA, USA

The Canyon Hills remodel was based off the design concept of connection. The church seeks to connect with the community and to connect those who attend. The scope of work included re-space planning a mall corridor through the middle of the building to allow easy visual access to both main entrances. As the lead Interior Designer on the project, my task was to space plan, select finishes, go to client meetings, and develop drawings to communicate my ideas.

The Process
Upon launching the project, we jumped right in to look at the space and the needs of the clients. We (the Architectural Design team) ask the range of people from leadership to janitors about their experience with their existing space, what they'd like to see and what their needs were.
Creating a design concept around the connection, helped to ground the project in the church's mission early on. The concept of connected helped to bring the conversation back to a common goal for design decisions, and influenced the application of the design.
Many existing situation had to be considered, from adding on to the exterior, to moving the fire sprinkler system, to making sure the project stayed on budget.
In my role as the Lead Interior Designer, I was involved in the client meetings, designing the interior of the space, coordinating with many other disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, the Contractor, Architectural Team, and Branding Team) to make sure the interior user experience was executed in a seamless manor.
